RAYMOND – The Raymond Voter Information Project marked the launch of its first annual voter information guide with a meeting and celebration on March 10 following the March 9 town elections. Distributed to approximately 4,000 homes in Raymond as an insert in the Carriage Towne News, the guide presented a report on each warrant article, including the effect of a YES vote and a NO vote, as well as pros and cons for each warrant article.

An exit poll indicated that 96% of respondents who read the guide found it useful. One of many commenters by phone and to the website said: “The election turnout and the spread of election results showed increased voter participation and increased voter understanding of the warrant articles, which I believe can be directly attributed to the Raymond Voter Information Project. Thank you.”

The Raymond Voter Information Project website was the first to report election results the evening of March 9th.

Launched in May 2009 by a group of concerned Raymond citizens, the objectives of the Project are to

  • improve citizen access to comprehensive, complete, objective information on Raymond candidates, issues, and proposed warrant articles
  • encourage participation in Raymond’s Deliberative Sessions and local elections
  • encourage citizens to seek public office

The Raymond Voter Information Project is registered with the State of New Hampshire and the Town of Raymond as a non-profit corporation, and is funded by dues and donations. They do not support or oppose any political party, candidate, or warrant article. See www.raymondvip.org for more information including how to participate in and support the work of the Project.
